CHAPTER 1 - STANDARD OF WORK

Section 1 - General

Standard of Work (SoW) can be earned while performing HQ Duties such as Area Supervisor, Area Officer1, Sentry, Front Row and Transfer Desk2. You may refer to the following table below for the points that you can look to earn every shift logged in the system:

HQ Work Stations

SoW Points

Front Row

2 Points

Sentry

3 Points

Area Supervisor

4 Points

Area Officer1

4 Points

Transfer Desk2

3 Points

Area Officer1 - Position can only be assumed by a Commissioned Officer.

Transfer Desk2 - Position can only be filled by a member of AFPC or SP&R.

Alternative method of earning SoW is through Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Each MOS would have specific tasks outside of HQ Duties which allows you to earn SoW upon completion. You may refer to Regulations 2: Structure of the Air Force, Chapter 3; for the different types of MOS USAF offers.

Section 2 - Duty Shift and Confirmations

USAF adopts a shift length of 15 minutes each shift or also known as 0.25. You are to call out the shift start and end each time so that your shift can be confirmed. Below are some examples of how the start of a shift is called at the different HQ work stations.

HQ Positions

Start

Information

Front Row

Personnel may choose to spell Front Row in full or shorten it as FR.

Sentry

Personnel may choose to spell Left Sentry / Right Sentry in full or shorten it as LS / RS.

In summary of the table above, you are required to call out the start and end of your shift. The format of full HQ Position name or the abbreviation as well as using “:” or “@” after start/end and before the minute called will not hinder your confirmations.

Subsection 2.1 - Changing of HQ Positions

Sometimes during shifts, you may be asked to change HQ Positions due to manpower or the needs of the HQ. If you happen to be logging a shift and you are asked to change HQ Positions, please remember to indicate the change of your position by announcing the change:
